Participants receive two steel test blocks with slightly different hardness numbers during a testing round. Each block is pre-tested for homogeneity. No sample preparation required. Hardness measurements are made in accordance with ASTM Test Method E10.
Laboratories use a 10mm tungsten carbide ball and 3000kgf load to perform this test.
All laboratories must report data using the HBW scale.
